Little Thicket Park Project

Little Thicket Park spans 10 acres, nestled between TC Jester Boulevard and Ella Boulevard along the east bank of Little Thicket Bayou. Several years ago, the Memorial Heights Redevelopment Authority (MHRA) and the Houston Parks and Recreation Department collaborated to restore a section of the failed bayou bank. This effort included the installation of terraced gabions and native plantings. To enhance safety, fencing was also installed along the top of the bank to provide an added layer of protection for park patrons.

Following this restoration, the Houston Parks and Recreation Department began work on a Master Plan for additional improvements to Little Thicket Park. The Master Plan was completed in 2023, and in 2024, the Houston Parks and Recreation Department and MHRA partnered with Clark Condon to finalize the park improvement designs.

The project has since been advertised, and a contractor has been selected. Construction is anticipated to begin in the first quarter of 2025 and is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

The park improvement project is jointly funded by MHRA and the Houston Parks and Recreation Department, with a total estimated cost of approximately $1.3 million.
