The Memorial Heights Redevelopment Authority (MHRA) is bringing new life to the Westcott Roundabout.
What to Expect
The improvements are designed to enhance the appearance and longevity of the greenspace at the center of the roundabout while creating a more inviting feature for the surrounding neighborhood.
Planned improvements include preserving and protecting the existing tree at the center of the roundabout, with fresh mulch added around its base. A new low metal wall will create a berm along the east side of the roundabout, and a concrete band will be installed behind the existing curb. The roundabout will be sodded and a new irrigation system installed to support the long-term health of the greenspace. The existing non-functioning lights will also be removed as part of the project.
The project is currently in the final scheduling phase, with construction anticipated to begin in the coming weeks.
What Is a Berm?
A berm is a mound of soil used in landscaping to define a space, manage water runoff, and add visual interest to an area. In this case, the low metal wall along the east side of the roundabout will frame the greenspace and help protect it from the surrounding roadway.
