As the Shepherd Durham Project advances, upcoming work will concentrate on Durham Drive, from the 610 Loop south to 27th Street. This phase will involve multiple lane closures and traffic adjustments, which are expected to impact travel in the area over the next few months.
Beginning September 18, 2024, at 9 am, the following lane closures will be in effect:
- The two right lanes of Durham Dr. south from 30th St. to the 610 Loop.
- One left lane of the 610 westbound frontage road at Shepherd Dr. This closure does not impact the U-turn lane from the 610 westbound frontage road to the eastbound frontage road at Shepherd Dr.
- One right lane of the 610 eastbound frontage road at DurhamDr.
To reduce traffic impacts, construction was completed along Durham Dr. as far north as possible before requiring these lane closures to complete the work to the northern limit of the project. Drivers should expect delays and consider using alternate routes if possible. We will keep the public informed of shifts in lane closures as the work progresses.

The Shepherd-Durham project brings transformative benefits to a transit corridor that has not seen substantial improvements since the 1960s. Replacement of undersized and aging storm sewers will help mitigate flooding, and new water and wastewater utilities will ensure reliable service for residents and businesses.
